What We Cover

Complete Cambridge IGCSE Physics curriculum coverage

Every topic aligned to the official syllabus. Every session taught with the mark scheme in view — not just content delivery but exactly how to demonstrate knowledge for maximum marks.

⚙️
Mechanics
Motion, forces, Newton's laws, momentum, energy, work, power, pressure. Graphs of motion — interpreting velocity-time graphs is a consistent mark-scoring opportunity.
🌡️
Thermal physics
Kinetic model, specific heat capacity, latent heat, gas laws, thermometers. Cambridge Paper 1 tests thermal concepts heavily in multiple choice.
🌊
Waves & Optics
Transverse and longitudinal waves, reflection, refraction, diffraction, EM spectrum, lenses, sound. Ray diagrams scored precisely by Cambridge.
Electricity & Magnetism
Circuits, resistance, Ohm's law, power, domestic electricity, transformers, electromagnetic induction, motors. High mark-weight in Papers 2 and 4.
🔬
Nuclear Physics
Atomic structure, radioactive emissions, half-life calculations, nuclear equations. One of the most predictable mark-scoring topics across all Cambridge sittings.
📋
Paper 4 — Alternative to Practical
Graph plotting, reading instruments, identifying errors, drawing conclusions. Most students lose marks here because they are not coached in the specific format Cambridge expects.

Why Sev7n

Why students choose Sev7n for Cambridge IGCSE Physics

1
Mark scheme taught in every session
The most powerful thing a student can learn is exactly how examiners award marks. Not just what the right answer is — but how to present it, how much detail to give, which command term requires which response type. Sev7n tutors teach from mark schemes and examiner reports in every session.
2
Past paper coaching as the core method
Content knowledge is necessary but not sufficient. Students who practise past papers with real-time mark scheme feedback — session by session — build the examination fluency that produces grade improvement. Past paper work is central to every Sev7n session, not an add-on.
3
Sessions recorded on Sev7n LMS
Every session is saved to the student's personal dashboard. Students replay worked solutions, mark scheme walkthroughs, and examiner guidance as many times as they need — particularly valuable in the week before examinations.
4
48,000+ students across 30+ countries
Our tutors work with students in India, UAE, Singapore, the UK, the US, and across Europe. We understand the international examination landscape, the specific challenges faced by students at international schools, and the university pathways that follow from Cambridge IGCSE Physics results.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions — Cambridge IGCSE Physics

What is IGCSE Physics Paper 4 — Alternative to Practical? +
Paper 4 (Alternative to Practical) is taken by students who do not have access to a laboratory. It tests practical skills — reading instruments, drawing graphs, identifying sources of error, and suggesting improvements. Cambridge has very specific formats for answers on this paper. Our tutors coach the exact format that earns marks, which is significantly different from just knowing the physics.
Should my child take Core or Extended IGCSE Physics? +
Extended tier (targeting A*–E) is strongly recommended for any student planning A Level Physics, IB Diploma Physics, or university courses in STEM. Core tier (targeting C–G) is appropriate for students who do not need Physics beyond IGCSE. Most of our students are on Extended.
How is IGCSE Physics graded? +
Cambridge IGCSE Physics is graded A*–G. The Extended tier papers award grades A*–E; Core tier papers award grades C–G. Papers 1 and 3 are multiple choice. Papers 2 and 4 (Extended) are structured questions. Most schools enter students for May/June or October/November sessions.
Is IGCSE Physics harder than IBDP Physics? +
IB Diploma Physics (SL and especially HL) is significantly more demanding than IGCSE Physics in terms of mathematical content, depth of theory, and assessment expectations. IGCSE provides the foundation. Students who achieve A or A* at IGCSE Extended are well-positioned for IB Physics SL; A* with strong mathematical ability is typically needed for IB Physics HL.
