Yes — IGCSE Chemistry is the foundation for A Level or IB Diploma Chemistry, both of which are required for Medicine applications globally. Students planning Medicine should target A* at Extended tier and focus particularly on organic chemistry and quantitative calculations. Paper 6 tests experimental planning, data collection, graph interpretation, and result evaluation — without requiring actual laboratory work. Cambridge has specific formats for how planning questions, table headings, and evaluation answers should be written. Most students who lose marks on Paper 6 do so because they have not been coached in these specific formats, not because they lack the chemistry knowledge.

Students who start 4–5 months before exams and attend 2 sessions per week (approximately 32–40 hours total) typically improve by one full grade boundary. Students starting from a lower base or targeting A* from a B typically benefit from more intensive preparation.
