A dual-route exam model was adopted depending upon the feasibility of conducting the exam or not during the COVID-19 pandemic. No matter whichever be the route, the IB scores and IB results show that IB could succeed in assessing students with fairness, matching up IB scores with their achievements and aptitudes. In fact, IB tried its best to produce valid, just, and reliable scores in the IB results-taking into full consideration of the possible impediments which the teaching-learning community might have faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Out of the 170,660 students who received the IB results this time in IB exam May 2021, 38,699 more students took up the non-exam route as compared to the exam route.
