IBDP Biology HL/SL

IBDP Biology HL/SL is an immersive course designed to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep appreciation of life and living systems. Based on the IB Biology Subject Guide (first assessment 2025), the course encourages students to think like scientists — to question, investigate, analyze, and connect biological concepts to real-world issues.

At SEV7N, our IBDP Biology HL/SL program integrates the latest IB curriculum updates with conceptual clarity and practical understanding, empowering learners to develop the analytical and research skills essential for success in higher education and scientific careers.

Overview of IBDP Biology HL/SL

The IBDP Biology HL/SL course explores the fundamental principles that explain how living organisms function, interact, and evolve. Students study core topics like genetics, cell biology, ecology, and physiology while developing essential experimental and analytical skills.

Our expert IB educators guide students to understand not only what happens in biology but why it happens — linking theory with observation through inquiry-driven learning.

The curriculum is aligned with the IB philosophy, fostering international-mindedness, interdisciplinary understanding, and ethical awareness of scientific applications.

IBDP Biology HL/SL Syllabus (2025 Update)

The new 2025 IBDP Biology syllabus is structured around four conceptual themes and one unifying Nature of Science framework:

  1. Unity and Diversity – Exploring the shared characteristics and variations among living organisms.
  2. Form and Function – Understanding how biological structures determine their functions.
  3. Interaction and Interdependence – Examining the relationships within and between systems in nature.
  4. Continuity and Change – Investigating inheritance, evolution, and adaptation over time.

The syllabus balances conceptual learning, skills, and content knowledge, encouraging inquiry-based exploration rather than rote memorization.
